Also known as Miss L., Laura has lived an extraordinary journey of survival, redemption, and purpose. For years, as she healed, she quietly built a vision in her mind — a platform designed to help others rebuild their lives after addiction, abuse, and trauma. That vision became RebuildingL, a movement dedicated to bridging the gap for those re-entering life after loss, hardship, or recovery. During her healing, Laura began writing what she thought would be a single book about her life. She quickly realized the story was much larger — and that her truth required time, courage, and radical honesty. It took nine additional years of inner work — releasing shame, guilt, and victimization — before she was ready to share her story publicly. In that same nine-year journey, Laura made another life-altering decision: to end her 26-year dependency on a prescribed medical cocktail. When no doctor would help, she took control of her own recovery. Returning to school, she graduated with a 3.95 GPA in Medical Administration, including a micro-nursing module. Drawing on her education, she taught herself to medically and safely titrate off all opioids, benzodiazepines, and psycho-reactive medications. Through years of volunteer work and speaking within the recovery community, Laura discovered a deeper truth — her brokenness had purpose. “I was forged in the fire,” she says. “There were no shortcuts, no pills to erase trauma, and no weapons strong enough to stop the pain. I had to choose to live — every single day — with intention.” Those who know her story admire her resilience. But Laura insists it wasn’t hers alone: “I borrowed my strength from my momma when I was sick and tired of being sick and tired — and God carried me when I was too weak to walk.” Today, Laura stands as a living promise — to her late mother, to herself, and to God — to use her voice in all ways, for all her days, to help others find their way back to life.
